Two Irvington High School Seniors, Elliot Riseman and Emma Jee, have launched a series of multimedia videos on local Irvington history as a new feature of The Paw Print, the student newspaper of Irvington High School. Elliot and Emma conceived and developed this new project of creating short videos about historical buildings and/or historical sites in the Village, which they research, narrate and produce. These videos are part of the wider effort by students at the High School to use changing technology – social media, videos, podcasts and PawCast TV – to expand the creative reach of The Paw Print and to reach the wider High School community in new ways.
As part of the Irvington High School’s Homecoming week, Elliot and Emma released their first two videos in this new series. Their first video is about the East Irvington School, which was located on Taxter Road and which, for many years, was the grade school for the East Irvington community. Their second video is about incredible history of the Stearns Estate along North Broadway, which today is the home of the Irvington High School and Middle School campus.
