Maps tell us stories. They can connect our present reality to past times, places and people that have left their mark on our present-day community. The Village of Irvington has a rich history of stories as seen through its historical maps, but for too long those maps were locked away in the archives of the Irvington Public Library and the Irvington Historical Society.
Through the generous support of David Imamura and Westchester County, Irvington’s historical maps have now seen the light of day and are available to all. Former Irvington Historical Society Board Member Chet Kerr will describe how this year-long project was done and will highlight several of the stories these maps tell and how those stories still resonate today.
