The Irvington Historical Society has been awarded a $5,000 grant by the Museum Association of New York (MANY) and the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) to be used to upgrade the Society’s existing computer and technology platform. These funds will go toward purchasing new Dell desktops and laptops, new monitors and printers, and software upgrades to the Society’s operating and archival management systems. The overall cost of these improvements exceed the amount of this grant, but members of the Society’s Board have pledged to make up the difference.
This platform upgrade will allow the Society to build on its recent successes in attracting new members and building its programming audience. During the pandemic, the Society pivoted from holding strictly in-person programs to doing online Zoom presentations and webinars, which expanded its audience significantly. The Society hopes to use its enhanced technology to broaden its reach and better serve the wider Irvington community.
