Event Details

Westchester County is known for major Revolutionary War events such as The Battle of White Plains and the capture of British Spy Major John André.  The war also took a very personal toll on the tenant farmers living in the stretch of Philipsburg Manor from today’s Hastings-on-Hudson to Tarrytown.  Neighbors and even families found themselves divided by political and military choices, sometimes with life and death consequences.  Char Weigel, the Vice President for Special Projects for Revolutionary Westchester 250, will trace the experience of several local tenant farmers during the war in the dangerous, contested “Neutral Ground” of Philipsburg Manor.
